In summer, is there anything better than sipping on an ice cold beer as the city temperature rises? Well yes, actually there is: Digging into a freshly grilled piece of meat that perfectly accompanies your frosty glass. There are of course many beer gardens across the city right now, but why not check out some of the BBQ beer gardens that compliment the summer so well?
BBQ Beer Gardens in Tokyo
The list below typically offer course meals, all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink menus for around 120 minutes.
Shinjuku BBQ Beer Garden Hello (Shinjuku)
This is the place to be in Shinjuku on a hot night. They offer your choice of American, Mexican or Korean bbq. They offer 4 courses and a whopping 160 cocktail and sour options. Located on top of the Lumina department store, the view isn’t bad at all.
Korean BBQ Beer Garden (Ikebukuro)
There’s definitely a trend showing that this year is the year for Korean BBQ. This beer garden offers various courses such as standard Korean BBQ, but if you ask me, the samgyeopsal course is where it is at. The drink menu includes soju and makgeolli as well to wash down all those chijimi.
Forest Beer Garden (Shinanomachi)
Maybe you’d rather spend your summer nights outside in nature and having some nice bbq lamb. Who wouldn’t? But you live in Tokyo which is somewhat lacking in nature. Well, this is where the Forest Beer Garden comes in. Situated in Meiji Jingu Gain and serving up Genghis Khan grill lamb. It may be one of the more slower paced ways to spend a summer night. Reservations are filling up quick so make yours soon. .
Beer Terrace Australian Grill and Oyster (Tamachi)
Time for something different. This year the Pullman Hotel Tamachi is offering up a taste of Oceania until the end of September. Featuring Australian beef skewers, meat pies, and oysters, this may be the place for my Aussie readers to cool off this summer.
Ibiza Summer Beer Garden (Shinjuku)
For something a little more different, the Hilton Tokyo is offering a chance to experience an Ibiza-themed beer garden complete with Tapas and Spanish wine. They even have DJs performing on Friday and Saturday nights so you can get that authentic Ibiza experience.
The Oak Door’s Tex-Mex Terrace BBQ (Roppongi)
You can almost definitely catch me here at the Grand Hyatt’s Oak Door restaurant. Sure it’s not the cheapest on our list, but it’s Tex-Mex! What more could a red-blooded American ask for? They have spiced meat platters, carnitas, fajitas, quesadillas, chili con carne nachos amongst many more options. You know what? I’m heading out now.
