Nagoya has a great local cuisine, and there are numerous wonderful options available to you at any time of year. During the holidays, however, you may need some hints on where to go to get your fill of holiday tastes and treats. There is no cause for alarm, however, as we have you covered with a few options to weigh up.
The Coat of Arms is Nagoya’s first Commonwealth Pub and Restaurant and is once again serving up their traditional Christmas dinner. You can choose from either turkey or ham, or both, which come with all of the fixings you might expect.

The Hilton Hotel every year puts on a series of impressive spreads for Christmas, and 2020 is no different. From November 14 to December 27, you can enjoy their premium Christmas lunch and dinner buffet, which consists of a wide array of holiday delicacies, with three selections of meat: roast pork, beef or chicken (though no turkey, unfortunately). The buffet boasts 25 different dishes, so you should be spoiled for choice.
For those of you with a sweet tooth, over the same timeframe you can indulge in their ‘Dreamy Christmas Sweets‘ afternoon tea and dessert buffet set. There are eight types of European sweets, with five additional savoury dishes. If you want to try something a little out of the ordinary, check out their Japanese cuisine ‘Christmas Genji‘ course, which includes teppanyaki, tempura, wagyu beef and other delights. It is available only from Dec 24 to 28.

The Marriott Hotel’s Restaurant Pergola in the JR Nagoya Station Tower offers a bright and casual space with a broad menu. Each Christmas they devise a superior festive menu, that is bound to impress.
Though their menu for 2020 is yet to be published, last year there were three different sets to choose from: a Chinese course, with shark fin soup, peking duck and lobster; a teppanyaki course, featuring A5 black wagyu steak, red king crabs and caviar; and a Kyoto course, that included Ise shrimp, wagyu steak, and foie gras.
Check their website or contact the hotel for more up-to-date information.

This year the Kawabun Nagoya will offer a Christmas course from December 21 to 26. They invite you to join with family and friends, and small children are welcome. Though the course is not exactly the most traditional of selections, it still promises to be pretty fantastic.
There are two nine-dish sets to choose from, featuring such extravagant delicacies as foie gras monaka-pear-snow crab and scallop tartale, Yezo deer stewed in red wine, charcoal-grilled Aichi beef sirloin steak and a sautéed lobster in a reduced spinach Americaine sauce risotto. Spectacular, I’m sure you’d agree.

You may not necessarily think of barbecue as a Christmas dish, but Midtown BBQ will make you reconsider that standpoint. This year Robb and his team has confirmed that they will be again serving up their mighty fine Prime Rib Xmas, though full details are yet to be ironed out.
Last year you could, from December 22 to 25, get a Regular Plate for 2,900 JPY or a Jumbo Plate for 3,900 JPY, with your choice of sides. They advise that you keep an eye on their facebook page for updates.
