Soul Food House in Azabujuban

In Tokyo’s Azabujuban neighborhood, Soul Food House, about 3 minutes from Azabu Juban Station, is the real deal.  Mississippi and Georgia natives LaTonya and David Whitaker can cook seriously well, so if you are looking for like home Southern, Creole, Cajun food, or soul food, this is it.

If you don’t like the pulled pork (you will), try the fried catfish.  I recommend you get them straight on the plate, avoid the poor boy… the bread gets in the way.   The chicken and waffles are also fantastic, but honestly, I haven’t had anything there I didn’t like.  I am not one to go off on a rant when writing, but if I were going to do so over something, it might be this shop. I am a huge fan of the food and the staff; they make everyone who comes in the door feel like family.   Give it a try!

From Azabujuban Station, exit seven if coming by Ooedo line, or exit four if by the Namboku line.  SFH is a 5-minute walk or so from there, located across from the Peacock Store.
