Finish Yard Weeding in Autumn

Weeding is one of the many time consuming and tiring chores required around the house. You do it, but the weeds always grow back, and you must do it again and again, especially around spring and summer. But it is almost fall, so why should you weed now? Professional farmers get their most important weeding done in the fall because if you pull up a weed by the root before winter, it will delay and/or reduce the amount of weeding required the following spring.

1. Cut seeds off before the plant dies. Plants drop seeds to the ground just before they die. Get them before that happens.
2. Get rid of winter weeds, ex. Poa annua (annual bluegrass) Poa annua comes out between fall to spring, and it grows fast in spring to summer. Once fully developed, the roots are firmly stuck in the ground, making it challenging to kill. But before they grow too big to pull, you can easily pull them out by hand.

It states that weeding is at the Lessee’s (renters) responsibility in many rental housing agreements. If the task is shirked, there may be an additional charge for the cost of weeding when you vacate. To avoid this, and live in a healthier environment, we recommend getting weeding done in the fall!
