If you’re in the area, you should check out the Rokko Island Halloween and Harvest Festival. This festival is one of the largest in the Hanshin region, and it occurs just across Kobe on Rokko Island at the River Mall. Grab your kids, friends, and family, put your best costumes on and head over to the Halloween celebrations. With a parade, costume contest, pumpkin carving, a haunted house, performances, various food booths, and trick-or-treating, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy at this exciting annual event!
Costume Parade: Whether you’re wearing a costume yourself or not, seeing the parade is undoubtedly worth your while. Over 2,000 participants take part in this parade that kicks off the festival weekend with an exciting opening display of all of the fun ways people get into the Halloween spirit. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m., but if you’re planning on joining make sure you arrive early because registration starts at 10:30 a.m. It’s free to participate as long as you’ve got a costume on! Also, bring the kiddos because the first 700 kids to sign up will receive a special holiday treat!
Costume Contest: After the parade winds down, head over to the North Stage to see some of the best costumes up close. If you’re proud of your own, make sure to enter ahead of time and register for the contest! Registration is free and not restricted based on age. Last year, the first prize winner took home the cash prize as well as tickets to Universal Studios Japan, so if you’re dressing up you might as well jump in the contest!
Trick or Treat: What’s Halloween without trick-or-treating? Elementary age children and younger wearing costumes are welcome to tour around the venue and collect treats and candies.
Haunted House: Costumes and candy are undoubtedly fun, but this festival wouldn’t be complete without at least a little bit of fright! Check out the haunted house if you’re in for a scare!
Pumpkin Carving: Make sure you don’t leave the festival without heading over to the pumpkin carving
tent so you can partake in this traditional Halloween pastime!
Stage Performances: Throughout the festival, various talented groups and young artists will take the stage to ensure you’re entertained the whole weekend long.
Food Booths: If you’re not already too full from the delicious candy and treats, you’ll undoubtedly have more than enough other yummy and cheap options for eating at this festival.
