Holiday Dining Options in Nagoya 2022

Nagoya has excellent local cuisine, and numerous wonderful options are available at any time of year. However, during the holidays, you may need some hints on where to get your fill of holiday tastes and treats. However, there is no cause for alarm, as we have you covered with a few options.

The Coat of Arms

The Coat of Arms is Nagoya’s first Commonwealth Pub and Restaurant, and between December 20 and 25 is again serving up its traditional Christmas Turkey Dinner. You can choose turkey, ham, or both, which come with mashed potatoes, steamed veggies – garlic and regular – a creamy bean casserole and topped off with a delicious, untraditional Yorkshire pudding. Not bad at 1,990 JPY for a regular and 2,490 JPY for a large!

However, if you feel like getting into the festive mood a little early, why not join them for their Christmas Party on December 18? From 1 pm to 4 pm, you can get a full Christmas buffet plus all-you-can-drink for just 5,000 JPY (advanced booking or an extra 500 on the day). Tickets go fast, so get booking now!

Midtown BBQ

You may not necessarily think of barbecue as a Christmas dish, but Midtown BBQ will make you reconsider that standpoint. This year Robb and his team will again be serving up their mighty fine Prime Rib Xmas.

From December 22 to 25, you can get one of their amazing Angus beef prime rib dishes – rubbed with Midtown’s special herb blend, slow-roasted for a day – with all the Christmas sides you’d expect. A Regular Plate will cost you 3,000 JPY while a Jumbo Plate is 5,000 JPY, and when they say Jumbo, you better believe they mean Jumbo! An early reservation is highly recommended.

But if you want a get-together before then and maybe make some new friends while you’re at it, Midtown BBQ will host an international party on December 18 from 2 pm to late evening. Aiming to get foreigners and expats living in the area to meet new people and locals alike, the party will include top Nagoya DJs, an outdoor bbq with their grills and smokers, and fun with a few party games and quizzes. It’s the ideal way to get into the holiday spirit!

Hilton Hotel Nagoya

The Hilton Hotel every year puts on a series of impressive spreads for Christmas, and 2022 is no different. From November 5 to December 28, you can enjoy their Fisherman’s Christmas Party. While we at JIS are not entirely sure about the connection between fishermen and the holiday season, we are sure that this Christmas lunch and dinner buffet with fishermen’s cuisine from around the world will be top-notch. Last year’s buffet boasted 25 different dishes, so you should be spoiled for choice, and it has to be said, the menu this year (Christmas Tree Pizza aside) looks fantastic. Adult prices range from 5,800 JPY on weekdays up to 7,800 JPY for the Premium Dinner. Check out the options here.

For those of you with a sweet tooth, you can enjoy the Hilton Santa’s Christmas Tea Party over the same timeframe. There are 18 types of Christmas sweets from around the world and seven savory dishes in a glossy Christmas atmosphere. If you want to try something a little bit special, on December 24 and 25, you can indulge in their Christmas Hideaway Dinner. It comes with a bottle of Moet et Chandon, but at 52,500 JPY for two, it is a little rich for JIS’ blood!

The Kawabun Nagoya

This year the Kawabun Nagoya will offer a Christmas Course from December 23 to 26. They invite you to join with family and friends, and small children are welcome. Though the course is not exactly the most traditional of selections, it still promises to be pretty fantastic.

There are two eight-dish sets – either 17,000 JPY for the standard or a private room for 25,000 JPY – to choose from. Both feature extravagant delicacies such as Hokkaido scallop caviar, Kasumi crab from Hyogo, Hida beef, and Aichi’s Yayoi Hime mascarpone. Spectacular, I am sure you would agree.

The Marriott Hotel Nagoya

The Marriott Hotel’s Restaurant Pergola in the JR Nagoya Station Tower offers a bright and casual space with a broad menu. Each Christmas, they devise a special festive menu that is bound to impress.

Though their Christmas menu is yet to be published, previously, there were sets to choose from: a Chinese course with shark fin soup, Peking duck, and lobster; a teppanyaki course featuring A5 black wagyu steak, red king crabs, and caviar; and a Kyoto course, that included Ise shrimp, wagyu steak, and foie gras.

Check their website or contact the hotel for more up-to-date information.
